Mike Petroskey.
Licensed fly fishing guide in the State of Alaska, based in Colorado, with a day job in technology and operations that has nothing to do with any of this. That separation is deliberate. This business is not a side hustle wearing a costume, it is the part of the week that is not billable.
The through line is a specific kind of stubbornness: not accepting that something works just because it is what came in the box. That applies to a steering rod on a kayak and it applies to an argument you have heard repeated enough times that it started sounding true.
Everything here is made or said by one person. When you email, that is who answers.

Spun Out Of
However We Got Here.
The podcast, the printing, and the outdoor writing all started under However We Got Here, LLC, a consulting business that works with residential specialty trades. They grew into something with a different audience and a different purpose, so they got their own entity, their own name, and their own site.
However We Got Here still does the consulting work. This is everything else.
Where Things Stand Today.
The shop is live and shipping. The podcast is being recorded. Field Notes is being written. This site will get less sparse every month, and nothing gets posted here before it is real.
